Researcher, Extension Coordinator

Dr. Michael Andreu is a Professor for Forest Systems and the Extension Coordinator in the School of Forest, Fisheries, and Geomatic Sciences at the University of Florida. Dr. Andreu’s program integrates teaching, applied research, and public engagement to advance forest science, ecosystem stewardship, and workforce development.
He has lead five statewide Extension programs: the Florida Land Steward Program, the IFAS Invasive Species Council, the Urban/Urbanizing Forest Management Program, The Florida Native Seed and Plant Materials Initiative, and Kids in the Woods. His extension efforts have received national and state recognition, including the Association of Natural Resource Extension Professionals Gold Award for City of Tampa Tree Canopy and Urban Forest Analysis and the USDA Director’s Partnership Award for Kids in the Woods.
Dr. Andreu has built an applied forest research program spanning urban and rural ecosystems, secured external funding, and mentored 96 graduate students over the past decade.
