Anisa Khalid is a PhD candidate in Plant Breeding at the University of Florida Blueberry Breeding and Genomics lab advised by Dr. Patricio Munoz. Her research focuses on developing germplasm and genomic resources for Florida blueberry (Vaccinium) species to generate sustainable and unique blueberry cultivars. In addition, Anisa is passionate about wild blueberries in their natural habitats and enjoys uncovering their evolutionary histories and population dynamics. She is particularly interested in natural hybridization and its application for plant breeding. Anisa previously received her undergraduate degree in Biology from the University of Central Florida where she completed her undergraduate thesis on fruit quality profiles of wild blueberries. She has a firm belief in conservation of wild plants through utilization and is excited to engage with other native plant enthusiasts!
