Research, Extension Professor

Dr. Basil Iannone is the Associate Professor and Extension Specialist for Urban and Residential Landscape Ecology in the School of Forest, Fisheries and Geomatics Sciences. He is also faculty member in the Center for Land Use Efficiency.
Dr. Iannone’s research focuses on the impacts of population growth in Florida on the availability of important resources such as water and on the ability of remnant natural areas to function and provide ecosystem services. The goal of his programs is to devise and promote strategies to: (1) mitigate the negative environmental impacts of current and future land development and (2) design, construct, and manage urban and residential landscapes to support greater levels of biodiversity and ecological functionality.

Dr. Iannone has an M.S. in Ecology, Evolution, and Behavior, University of Minnesota and a Ph.D. Ecology & Evolution Program, Biological Sciences, University of Illinois at Chicago
