Janine is a landscape designer whose experience ranges from working as a child on her family’s nursery in Homestead, Florida, to working with high-end interior plantscape companies in New York City, to working with local native and specialty nurseries in Broward County.

A fourth-generation gardener and landscape designer, Janine purchased Green Thumb Inc., originally an interior plant maintenance and fine gardening service specializing in rose gardens, 20 years ago. She has evolved the company to include native plant and landscape design & maintenance services especially serenity and meditation gardens. Green Thumb focuses on using natural, environmentally safe and non-harmful methods of garden management and pest control.

Janine serves as President Elect on the FANN Board of Directors and as FANN’s Education Committee Chair. She enjoys sharing her gardening knowledge with the public and lectures regularly on a variety of gardening topics. She is a Florida Advanced Master Naturalist, Naturescape Broward Habitat Steward, member of the Broward Chapter Florida Native Plant Society and has served as a Broward County Master Gardener volunteer for 20 years.

She is a ISA Certified Arborist, FNGLA certified horticulture professional, UF/IFAS Certified Florida-Friendly Landscape Professional, Florida Water Star Certified Landscape and Irrigation Professional and UF/IFAS Certified Advanced Master Naturalist, and holds a FDACS Limited Fertilizer Application License.

Janine also has an M.A. in Sociology from Florida Atlantic University.
