A native Floridian, landscape designer, horticulturist and professional nurseryman for over 40 years. Eryk developed a passion for native plants growing up in what was once ‘rural’ Palm Beach County, fascinated by native plants in the surrounding Flatwoods and Prairies. In 1982 Eryk started his first native nursery on his father’s land while managing the School Board’s native plant nursery

In 1988 Eryk moved to Jefferson County, Fl. and started Apalachee Native Nursery providing landscape and restoration services in the Tallahassee area. While in Northern Florida Eryk received a number of the FNGLA’s certifications and became a ISA Certified Arborist and illustrated ‘Priceless Florida’, a 3 volume text book on the ecology of Florida. Eryk and family moved to rural New Hampshire for a change of seasons and started a retail nursery with an emphasis on natives, landscape design and installation. Eryk returned to South Florida and started Everglades Native Designs and since then the company has won (2) 1st place awards on Marco Island for their use with native plants.

Eryk is a founding member of FANN and serves as a Director At Large on the FANN Board of Directors and with his wife Beata, a Polish born Horticulturist (whom he met at an FANN conference) live in Rural Collier County and have 4 grown children and are involved in horticultural, environmental, civic and Catholic organizations. BTW, Eryk’s last name is pronounced ‘Yada shev ski’.
