In this course, we will talk about the various ornamental grasses that can be used in landscapes that are native to various regions of the Florida peninsula. The focus is on grasses that are more readily available in the trade, including the following: Clumping Grasses

  • Chalky Blue Stem, Andropogon virgnicus var. glaucus
  • Elliot Love Grass, Erigrostis elliottii

  • Muhly Grass/Hairawn Muhly/Gulf Muhly, Muhlenbergia cappillaris
  • Starrush Whitetop, Rhynchospora colorata
  • Sand Cordgrass, Spartina bakeri and other Spartina spp. of grasses
  • Fakahatcheegrass/Eastern Gamagrass, Tripsacum dactyloides
