This course focuses on the selection, use and maintenance of Florida native plants in established, native-dominant, award-winning landscapes that achieve a high degree of aesthetic quality and ecological function. Instructors will present the designs, plant selection and maintenance routines for three high visibility native landscape examples: the pollinator garden at the St. Augustine Visitor Center, the pollinator garden at the Marine Discovery Center, and the Pavilion and trial gardens planted at the headquarters of Cherrylake, an agricultural company in Groveland. Landscape architects will gain an understanding of how the best Florida native landscape plants can be used to achieve aesthetic and ecological landscape goals.
