Florida Boxwood, Schaefferia frutescens

Evergreen Florida Boxwood is native from Southeast Florida and the Keys and is not freeze tolerant. Small, dense light-green leaves and a tolerance for pruning makes our native Boxwood a good replacement for non-native boxwood and a good choice for screening. It can grow to small specimen tree height (20 ft). It prefers moist to drained soils of high pH and has moderate drought tolerance after establishment. The fruit has a dark orange to red color.
